SAFT Terminology Explained

When a specimen is loaded with a specific standard mass, the maximum temperature that the bonded area can endure before failing in shear is known as the Shear Failure Temperature (SAFT).


 

Test Principle

To determine the shear breakage temperature of an adhesive tape specimen, the heating rate of the oven is controlled and the time it takes for the adhesion to break is measured.
